Farrans Construction preferred bidder on Water Main Project

Northern Ireland Water has confirmed Farrans Construction as the preferred bidder on the £50 million Water Mains Rehabilitation Framework .
The project, which is designed by Jacobs UK Ltd, will have a contract period of 5 years commencing in May 2010. It involves site investigation, design and installation of new and replacement watermains throughout Northern Ireland.
The current water mains infrastructure in Northern Ireland supplies 625 million litres of water per day to 1.7 million consumers in households, farms and businesses. However some are over 40 years old and have become prone to burst, leaks and pressure problems. This project will ensure high levels of quality drinking water, reduced leakages and minimize supply interruptions.
