CUBIS Industries has been named as the sole approved supplier of recessed covers and frames for BT Openreach. CUBIS has held product approval since 1999 but their AX-S™ Recessed Covers are now the only cover approved for installation on the BT Openreach network.
Recessed covers allow designers to infill the cover with materials to match the surrounding landscaped area thereby improving the aesthetics of public realm and other high specification project finishes.
The AX-S™ cover range, is manufactured in accordance with BT specification LN593 and is kitemarked to EN124: B125, making them suitable for use in occasionally trafficked areas such as car parks, footpaths and pedestrian areas. The covers are manufactured from 6mm steel, hot-dip galvanised to EN1461 and feature a lift and slide design and centralised lifting keyholes designed to suit BT lifting equipment.
Speaking about the sole supplier status, Michael Wightman, Managing Director of CUBIS said, “BT was facing increasing problems with unapproved manufacturers claiming BT approval status. This resulted in serious issues with lifting oversized, overweight or unbadged covers and it was felt that having a single approved supplier would assist in ensuring that only approved covers were fitted to their network.
“Given that CUBIS is the longest standing approved source of recessed covers and sole supplier of the standard BT footway covers since 1994 meant that we were well placed to deliver this objective.”
In addition to footway and recessed covers, CUBIS Industries is also the sole supplier of STAKKAbox™ Quad modular joint boxes and JB23 and JB26 joint boxes.
